AS WE GROW is a leading children’s clothing brand from Iceland, known for its strong commitment to sustainability. The brand questions fast fashion and uses high-quality materials such as alpaca and Pima cotton, designing clothes that are not influenced by trends and are made to be worn by children for as long as possible. The designer draws inspiration from their unique vision and sensibilities.
AS WE GROW is inspired by the idea that clothes can be loved and passed down as "hand-me-downs" for multiple children, giving them even greater value over time. This reflects the brand’s respect for both the manufacturing process and the environment. Their collections incorporate traditional Icelandic elements and use fabrics like alpaca, wool, cotton-wool blends, Pima cotton, and linen.
The Spring/Summer 2019 collection is inspired by the small town of Hveragerði in southern Iceland, based in the 1960s. Hveragerði is unique in Iceland for its active geothermal area, where greenhouse agriculture is thriving. It’s famous for growing tropical plants like bananas and cacti, alongside typical houseplants, and even produces Icelandic tropical fruits for local distribution. The town is also known for its geothermal hot springs, a popular tourist destination. The collection’s photoshoot was taken in one of the town’s famous old greenhouses.
